Yes. Import your data, set the columns with text to analyse, indicate if you'd like to start from scratch (ideal if you're analysing a data set for the first time) or use an existing codeframe.
In a few minutes (we can process half a million rows per hour), Caplena will be done analyzing your survey data. Then, you're ready to start verifying the results and fine-tuning a sample of rows for full confidence in your results.
Caplena codes open-ended responses at human level, typically after the first run. An AI Quality Score shows how consistently it codes your data, and every assignment shows the phrase behind it. Learn how Caplena's AI works.

Instead of using pre-defined topics, Caplena will tell you which topics are present in your survey responses, creating a codebook (eg. a topic collection) that reflects what respondents are saying. This is great when analyzing data for the first time, or when analysing ad hoc surveys for which you don't have an existing codebook.
If you have pre-defined topics or an existing codebook you want to use to ensure consistency (especially when analysing trackers), you can also import them.
In both cases, you can then fine-tune your analysis and modify your topic collections to best match your research objective.
You can use Caplena to analyse all kinds of surveys: in-store, online, transactional, NPS or CSAT trackers, even ad hoc surveys.
Too many tools lack flexibility, so we have built Caplena to make it easy to import any data source - from csv files to API integrations.
In addition to open-ended responses, you can bring as many columns as you want. For instance, you can import NPS/CSAT scores to identify the topics driving customer satisfaction and know where to focus on.

Your data is hosted in the EU (Netherlands), in ISO 27001-certified Google Cloud data centers, and encrypted in transit and at rest. Caplena is SOC 2 Type II audited and GDPR compliant.
For AI features, we use frontier models from Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, running in their EU data centers. Your data is never used to train these models, or Caplena's own AI.
To protect respondents, you can automatically anonymize text on import, so personally identifiable information (PII) isn't exposed.

Yes. When you update your codebook, Caplena re-codes your existing responses, including data from past waves or years:
Partial update: small changes, like adding a topic or editing a description, only reprocess the affected responses.
Full update: broader changes reassign all responses, so your results stay consistent over time.
For large trackers, you can test codebook changes on a sample project first, then apply them to your main project.
Every change is logged in the topic assignment history, and you can restore any version from the last 60 days. Learn how topic assignment works.
